3.1 Database environment

Certain preparations must be made before you can install the database to

ensure that the process will run smoothly. These include searching for existing

databases that are installed with other applications and/or used by these. This

applies to the stand-alone and the Client/Server installation version.

If other databases are already installed, you must check carefully to ascertain

whether

• the database version is correct,

• other applications can use the version required for TIS-Office and

• what the database administrator's password is.

The flow chart below summarises the checks to be carried out. Individual

checks are described in the following paragraphs.
